Shaggy is gearing up to return to the scene with another classic dancehall album.
The dancehall legend is currently working on his next solo album as well as another joint project with Sting. During his sit down with Winford Williams last weekend, he opened up about his upcoming album, the state of the music, Chronixx and Damian Marley Grammy nomination, and his charity work with the Bustamante Hospital for Children. Speaking about the current wave of reggae/dancehall in the mainstream music, Shaggy said that he would like to see a little more chart action.
“I personally would like to see a little more chart action, mainstream chart action,” he said. “I think there is a movement, a strong reggae movement. I see more touring especially the roots artists them doing a lot of touring and connecting with an audience on a global scale. You don’t see much chart action, I think Sean [Paul] is probably one only few chart action you see now.”
Shaggy confirmed that he has an album coming out in February of next year, but didn’t give us the title. “I have an album coming out on Sony and I have been working on this album for the longest and keep changing it,” he said. The dancehall icon opened up about the Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album with Chronixx and Junior Gong being the hot favorite.
“In fairness, I’ve only listened to two albums out of that batch, I’ve listened to the Chronixx album [Chronology] and I’ve listened to the Junior Gong album [Stony Hill],” he added. “With both albums, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top. Chronixx at this point is clearly the crowd favorite locally. You see him at these concerts, he has a movement going on in Jamaica right now. Gong now has an album that is out and it will be interesting because he has more of an international appeal, more of a global brand and he is been around for a while, and he has being around a famous name in reggae music.”

The Hotskull deejay signed Ching to his Unruly label in 2015 after the two developed a close friendship. This year their friendship turned sour and we started seeing the “Roast or Fry (Breadfruit)” deejay on tour around the world with Sean Paul. Some dancehall fans think that SP is behind the falling out, but now the dancehall legend is setting the record straight.
Sean Paul said he went through the proper channel to get Chi Ching Ching on his tour and there is no bad blood between himself and the Unruly camp. “His manager is Squidel which is Popcaan brother,” SP said. “So basically I had to talk to them… when me and Ching just a reason about it and I said who book for you because we want to bring you on these shows and we went through the process and find out and then we have meetings with everybody. It wasn’t a big public thing, we just said yow let us do this.”
Sean Paul added that Chi Ching Ching brought a lot of energy to his tour and he likes that. He also made it clear that he has nothing against Popcaan. “I personally have met Popcaan one or two times and I have nothing against the youth,” he added. “I don’t suppose he has anything against me, this is just a thing where his career is in that direction.”
SP added that at this point in his career he is only looking to help younger artists like Ching elevate their careers on the global stage. Sean Paul has over two decades in dancehall under his belt and has been widely regarded internationally as the king of the genre.

Chris Brown and Kevin McCall are at each other’s throat again.
We thought that the two singers squashed their beef ages ago, but apparently not. McCall fired off a series of posts on Instagram last weekend bashing Chris Brown and members of his OHB crew for threatening and stalking him. He is also saying that he has no issues with Breezy and his crew but he is ready for a one-on-one fight with the “Loyal” singer. Brown didn’t respond to that offer, but one member of his crew name Sinko did.
“Chris Brown is supposed to be a gangster, right,” McCall said. “Why every time he get into something with another man — one person — he gotta have a gang come help him? Chris Brown, you from out of town, my n***a. My whole city will turn up on you’re ass if you keep it up.”
Sinko says that McCall has been calling members of the OHB crew trying to get them to squash the beef with Breezy. “Don’t let this ni**a fool you, ni**as don’t want smoke,” Sinko said. “He got mutual homies hitting me on his behalf to squash beef! Now it’s no passes, you give a ni**a a inch and they take a mile. We winning over here, staye out our lane, youdon’t wanna crash that cheap car you can’t afford to get fixed.”
Kevin McCall later posted a series of videos saying its all love and that he has no issues with Brown and his crew. He is basically saying that some guys around Chris are jealous of him and are only coming after him because of that jealousy. Breezy did not comment on the beef himself, but he gave his stamp of approval by liking the post made by Sinko. Check out some of the videos and the heated exchange on Instagram below.
R. Kelly can now breathe a sigh of relief after his home burglary suspect turns himself into police.
The R&B legend’s Georgia home was burglarized last week after someone forced themselves into the mansion located in Johns Creek, just outside of Atlanta. The singer posted a video on social media over the weekend showing his empty house where the burglar, who has now been identified as Alfonso Walker, took everything including electronics and jewelry. TMZ reported that Walker turned himself into Johns Creek Police Department on Monday, nearly a week after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Walker was booked on 2 counts of theft by deception, 2 counts of theft by taking, and 2 counts of burglary. He faces years in prison if found guilty on all counts. According to the police report, Alfonso Walker hired other individuals to clean out R. Kelly’s house and later sold the stolen goods on the black market. Kelly identified the suspect as a part-time employee.
The burglary incident took place over the Thanksgiving weekend when the burglars hit R. Kelly’s two Atlanta properties cleaning them out of everything that they could get hands on. The thieves took TVs, furniture, washer dryer, and other household appliances are all gone.
