Usher taps dancehall power producer Don Corleone for his new single “Pressure.”
The link-up between the R&B singer and the producer was put together by producer Rico Love, according to Don Corleone. The two met for the first time at the famous AfterMaster Recording & Mastering Studios in Hollywood, CA. “I got a call from Rico Love (an American producer) one night asking me if I could come to a studio in Hollywood, California and be prepared to work,” Corleone said.
“I went to the studio and to my surprise, Usher was in the studio. So, Rico said let me play something for you and he played me this demo that he did,” the producer added. “It has only a few keys on it, so he then asked if I could make it fire with that dancehall sound. I made it on spot and it took me like five minutes to complete it.”
Don added that Usher loved what he heard and Rico Love then suggested that they include a female dancehall artist on the track. Corleone said he made it happen but can’t disclose the name of the female artist who will be on the track, but there are already some rumors that it’s dancehall newcomer Shenseea. “We recorded her the next day at Hitmaker Studio in Kingston… When Usher and Rico heard it, they both loved it,” he revealed.
Don Corleone is the first Jamaican based producer to produce a song for Usher which makes it a big achievement. Dancehall music has been reshaping the sound of mainstream pop and hip hop over the past two years and more established artists are now looking to Jamaica to get the authenticity of that sound. Justin Bieber, who was discovered by Usher, dabbled in dancehall for his last album, and we’ve seen artists like Drake, Rihanna, Tory Lanez, and Chris Brown all release dancehall influenced singles.
Dave East and Nas serve up a short film-like video for their collaborative effort “The Hated.”
The 10-minute cut was directed Kid Art which tells a true story of a crime drama type film based in New York City. The clip introduced the Anthony and Corey characters, played by Cominaharr and Mike Troll respectively, that Dave East raps about on the track. The video starts out with East and his homie being captured by heavily armed police offices before transitioning to the life portrayed by Anthony and Corey.
“One conversation between homies, better yet brothers, That used to spend the night with each other, They moms was best friends, One name was Anthony, the hood called ’em Ant Live, Kept his pistol on ’em, so he bought a bigger pant size, He got a little colder the moment he watched his man die,” Dave East raps.
Nas did not appear in the video but he sends shout-out to his brother Dave East who dropped his Paranoia: A True Story, P2 mixtape on Tuesday. The project has some recognized names on the tracklist including Marsha Ambrosius, Lloyd Banks, T.I., and Tory Lanez.
Kanye West was all smiled when paparazzi caught up with him in Calabasas on Wednesday.
Ye and his wife Kim Kardashian welcomed their baby girl on Monday via a surrogate because the reality star has a condition name placenta accreta which caused her some life-threatening complications when she was pregnant with her son Saint West. Kanye revealed that they have yet to find a name for their new bundle of joy and fans are already coughing up a few names.
“Can’t think of a name you know what am saying,” he responded to the paps questions while they suggested Donda which is the name of his late mother. Kanye West and Kim Kardashian already have two kids, a four-year-old name North West, and a two-year-old name Saint West. Sources say they were both in the delivery room when their surrogate mother gave birth to their daughter.
Kanye West has been working on his new album for the last year and his fans are hoping to see the project sometime this year. Aside from hitting up the studio to lay down some new tracks, he has been busy expanding his Yeezy fashion brand. In fact, he is wearing one of his new Yeezy sneakers in the photo below.

Drake started following his baby mama on Instagram and his fans are freaking out.
For months now an adult film star name Sophie Brussaux has been rumored to be pregnant for Drake. He has been silent on the reports while she has been posting baby bump photos on IG. Here is the tea, she recently gave birth and everyone have been holding their breath waiting to find out if he is really the father. Since giving birth, she made her Instagram private perhaps because she doesn’t want her baby photos go public.
Drake suddenly started following her (@SophieKnowsBetter) and some fans think that its a confirmation that he is the father of her baby. “So 6 God started following his baby mama on lol and then he wants to have us convinced that he is not the father, c’mon bro you have no street cred to lose if you just admit it,” one fan commented while a female fan added, “OMG Drake just followed that haux they say he knocked up am dying please tell me this is not real.”
Drake previously dated Rihanna and Maliah Michel. Last year he was linked to Jennifer Lopez and since the beginning of the year, he has been rumored to rekindle his relationship with actress Zoe Kravitz.

Vybz Kartel thinks that the recent snub from the YVA awards is further proof that the system is trying to silence his music.
The “Mhm Hm” deejay did not receive a single nomination at this year’s Your View Awards, former Youth View, because of some rules changes. The YVA says they will not nominate any artist who can’t perform at the event which automatically disqualifies Kartel because of his incarceration. A rep for the deejay told Dancehall HipHop that he is not angry but still sees it as another attempt to silence his voice.
“It’s not our show so we can’t vex if they don’t nominate us (Vybz Kartel), but this is more clear evidence of a plot to silence Worl’Boss and stifle his music,” his rep said. “Thankfully we are living in an age where the fans can go online and get the music directly from artists so we don’t have to go through radio stations or major labels. The fans know that Kartel is the biggest and baddest artist in the history of dancehall. Him in a league by himself and no other artist even come close to his level. So what is dancehall award show without Vybz Kartel?”
Kartel’s biggest rival, Alkaline, leads the list of nominees this year with seven nods. This further fuel the beef between the two deejays with Kartel’s rep accusing the YVA of being bought out by the Vendetta deejay. “You can’t have an award show where artists can buy them way into and how can that be better than artist paying disc jockeys to play their music,” his rep told us.
Last year the YVA was dominated by Vybz Kartel despite him getting fewer nominations than his counterpart Alkaline. Vendetta fans were highly critical of the award show calling it a Gaza show. So perhaps this is the YVA’s attempt to appease those fans.
