Vybz Kartel offload some shade on producer Stephen ‘Di Genius’ McGregor.
The self-proclaim Worl’Boss is upset with Di Genius who previewed one of his songs on social media over the weekend. The preview ignited Gazanation fans who thinks that the two of them made peace, but now we know that is not the case. “Producer bwoy me and you a friend? Weh ya release dem old song de fa? You no have no shame dawg. SMFH,” Kartel wrote on Instagram.
While the dancehall deejay didn’t name drop Stephen ‘Di Genius’ McGregor, his fans them immediately recognized who he was making references towards. The dancehall producer has not responded despite being tagged by several fans regarding the post. The title of the song is “Murda Practice” and it features Vybz Kartel’s old flow from before his incarceration in 2011. Kartel and Di Genius had a falling out back in 2009 after the two worked together on a series of hit songs. The two never made peace since then.
Dancehall fans have mixed reaction to Ninjaman life sentence.
The harsh penalty was handed down in the Home Circuit Court in Kingston on Monday (December 18, 2017) following his murder conviction on November 20th, nearly a month prior. Ninjaman felt like he was given an unfair trial and vow to appeal, but in Jamaica as evident with Vybz Kartel case, appeals could take several years to even get a hearing in Jamaica.
During his sentencing hearing, Dancehall Queen Carlene, and dancehall artist Stacious, gave character testimony on behalf of the deejay but that wasn’t enough to sway the judge. Fans have since been weighing in on the sentencing with some calling it harsh while others think it didn’t go far enough.
“That’s why crimes and the law is not being taken seriously because people are being handed lenient sentences for heinousness crimes,” one fan wrote on social media while another added, “Did he not commit murder? If so why is he not in prison for life? And the other two as well? What’s up with that?”
“Jamaica Justice system is really a man murder him babymother & dump r body Inna gutter get 15yrs & it caught on camera.. A man say him saw Ninjaman kill a man Ninja get life imprisonment ..what kind a justice system we have a Jamaica @andrewholnessjm d system wah scrap,” one fan who supports Ninjaman vents.
Ninjaman will be serving his life sentence at the same prison where Vybz Kartel is currently housed, GP.
In case you have been living in a cake for the past few days, Alkaline stepped to Tony Matterhorn on stage last Friday night during his birthday party at Club Euro in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The veteran sound system selector was the main disc jockey at the birthday bash which saw thousands of Vendetta fans turned out for the event. Matterhorn was playing mostly Alkaline and his allies music all night, but then music start coming from Tommy Lee Sparta, Popcaan, and then a Vybz Kartel song was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
The “Champion Boy” deejay was furious and made his way onto the stage with his goons to confront TM and told him to his face that he is a pu**y for pulling off the stunt. Vybz Kartel seems to be having a field day with the development and has since sound off on Instagram about it. “WHAT’S A PARTY WITHOUT VYBZKARTEL MUSIC?? DWBCL,” Kartel wrote in his IG bio before adding, “How does it feel being labelled a photo copy artiste? Guess i’ll never know, dwfl.”
Last year, Alkaline received some backlash from some dancehall fans for allegedly copying Vybz Kartel image and style. The Vendetta deejay never responded to those accusations, but Kartel and his fans are not letting up on the claims. “So boring at the top yawn,” Kartel added on IG.
On Sunday, Diddy announced on social media that he would like to buy the Carolina Panthers after the team went up for sale. The team is reportedly valued at around $2.3 billion, but that’s besides the point. Colin Kaepernick and Steph Curry responded to Diddy’s tweet saying that they want in on his pitch for ownership. Bay Area reporter, Darya Folsom, aired a segment about Diddy’s ambition on her show where she pretty much laughed at the music mogul and that didn’t sit well for a lot of folks including Nipsey Hussle.
“I’m offended to my core,” Nipsey wore. “And both these clowns can’t even pay the water bill at one of @diddy estates…but THEY CANT TAKE HIM SERIOUS? “He looked like he jus finished Drinking a 40?” You talking bout a owner of a vodka company! “I don’t even know what he does” @forbes do tho. “You gotta stay in yo comfort zone”? That’s the mentality of a FAILURE!! U Never speak when you This STUPID AND OUT THE LOOP OF REALITY!!! @diddy I HOPE THEY MOTIVATED U EVEN MORE AND WHEN U BECOME THE 1st Blac @NFL owner we gone only wear Yo team jerseys and make sure u get a super bowl trophy!!! F*cc these b**ches and this whole way of thinking.”
Folsom’s action infuriated a lot of Diddy’s fans who also reacted on Twitter. “Darya Folsom out here clowning Diddy in the news like she won’t be out of a job if he just makes one phone call lol,” one fan tweeted while another added, “@DaryaKRONFolsom @diddy The levels of Disrespect, Ignorance, Middle school aged immaturity and Hate from Darya Folsom and The Radio Guy is So Effing!! F**ked Up!”
I would like to buy the @Panthers. Spread the word. Retweet!

Diddy is almost worth 820 million dollars his companies over 2 billion but white people still talk about him like he’s a hoodrat, not a multimillionaire business man who continues to top each year with the most money made by any other entertainer. Shows how white people view us. pic.twitter.com/JSw0NHAFUU

As the Yuletide season shifts into high gear Reggae luminary, Nesbeth is definitely in the mood for giving. Wrapping up a two-month island-wide campaign to bring social awareness to school children regarding the use and impact of social media. The singer last week made a surprise visit to Montego Bay High School where he handed over a cheque worth fifty thousand dollars, to two students of the academic institution. The recipients: Mikaliah Allen and Brianne Irons were the overall winners of the ‘Success Story’ online competition, hosted in November in collaboration with Foota Hype Music (F.H.M).
Making the presentation during the school’s devotional period, Nesbeth implored the pupils and school administration with special mention to the ancillary staff to follow their dreams and become their own ‘success story’.
“I know what it’s like to not have, coming from very humble place and having to face some almost insurmountable obstacles to get to where I am in life; but the real reason I was able to make it this far is because I had a dream and I never once lost sight of it despite the challenges. So today before I leave, I want to personally implore you all to have a dream and work earnestly towards it.”
The Principal, Mr Gary Powell, thanked Nesbeth for the kind gesture; encouraging him to continue being a beacon of inspiration for the youths of this country.
Over the weekend the ‘Success Story’ hitmaker also made appearances at the Office of the Police High Commission and the United States Embassy, delivering stupendous sets respectively. The Rastafarian crooner was lauded by both entities for his selfless effort at nation-building.
Meanwhile, as the year draws to a close, Nesbeth remains steadfast on completing his album but is expected to release an EP in the first quarter of the new year as a precursor to the album.
The singer’s next appearance will be at the 5th instalment of Ghetto Splash this Tuesday, December 19th.
