Drake has put his money where his mouth is and has pledged to donate $200,000 to the ongoing Hurricane Harvey relief effort in Houston.

Earlier this week, the 6 God announced on his Instagram account that he will be helping the victims of the catastrophic storm get back some normality in their lives. Drake often called Houston his second home and usually spend a lot of time in that city whenever he is in the U.S. After seeing the devastation on TV, the rapper immediately gets in action with his team to figure out how he can help.

Drake is among a long list of big names in hip hop that has pledge large sums of money to the relief effort in Southeast Texas. So far artists like Diddy, Nicki Minaj, T.I., and Chris Brown have all pledge to donate hundreds of thousands of dollars. In a video message posted on his Instagram, Drake send his love to the people of Houston and let them know that he is keeping them in his prayers.

“To the resilient people of Houston and the entire state of Texas, I would like to send you all of our love and all of our prayers,” the More Life rapper said. “To the brave men and women that have assisted in aid, relief, and rescue, your actions are truly heroic. My good friend, J.J Watt, started a fund raising effort through YouCaring and I’ve donated $200,000 towards it.”

NFL superstar J.J. Watt has started his Houston Flood Relief Fund to which Drake and some other 100,000 individuals have donated more than $10 million so far. Other rappers like Lil B have indicated other ways where they will help the people of Houston. He said that he will be giving away free verses to local Houston rappers throughout the month of September.

J. Cole‘s imprint Dreamville Records signs rap group EarthGang.

Talks of the signing have been floating around for a few months now, but now both J. Cole and the rap duo have confirmed that signatures are now on paper and the signing is now official. EarthGang is a rap duo based in Atlanta comprising of Johnny Venus and Doctur Dot. The first person the hint at the signing is DJ Drama who somehow let it slip out his mouth a few months ago.

EarthGang has already announced their new Rags EP and this cosigns from one of the dopest rappers in the game J. Cole will only boost their profile. In a video posted online, you can see the Roc Nation rapper praising Johnny Venus and Doctur Dot. “When n***as think about Atlanta, they think about super trap sh*t,” he said. “They think about, ya know, Future…Future is the God right now in that world and that lane. But it’s like, them kids you seen at that show tonight…they actually relate more to ya’ll.” Cole also promised the duo that he will make himself available to them right along their journey.

It’s good to see J. Cole expanding his own Dreamville brand and building his own stable of artists and if he can recognize the talent of these two rappers just like JAY-Z recognized his, then that can only be good for hip hop and good for these aspiring emcees. EarthGang will be releasing their new Rage EP on September 1st. The duo will then embark on a tour this fall and will likely begin work on their debut album. J. Cole is also working on his next album and was recently spotted in the studio with Dr. Dre. No word yet on when his next project will arrive but you can expect an announcement from his camp soon.

Teenage rap sensation Tay-K is on trial for murder as an adult and he has one of the hottest rap songs out “The Race.”

The controversial 17-year-old rapper, whose real name is Taymor McIntyre, is currently in jail and is charged with capital murder. On Wednesday, he was in court for a hearing and a judge ruled that he will be tried as an adult. His trial has been delayed reportedly due to lack of enough evidence and his lawyer, James McMillan, says that he is confident that his client will be exonerated.

Tay-K got into some legal trouble last year when 21-year-old Ethan Walker was killed during a home invasion in Mansfield, Texas. The young rapper was arrested and charged with the murder and was placed on house arrest, but he later cut loose his ankle monitor and went on the run, thus becoming a fugitive. As if that wasn’t enough, while on the run he became a suspect in another murder case and as well as an assault case involving a 65-year-old man. He was captured on June 30th in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

McMillan released a statement to The New York Times reporter Joe Coscarelli who posted it on Twitter. “We just concluded the ‘certification transfer’ hearing for Mr. McIntyre,” the statement reads. “The judge has ruled that his case should [be] moved to the adult court based on his age (and the fact that the juvenile court will lack jurisdiction soon). The judge was very clear to tell Mr. McIntyre on the record that this decision has no bearing whatsoever of his guilt/ innocence in this case. After a full day hearing with numerous officers testifying under oath, officers testified there was no evidence that Mr. McIntyre engaged in any of the violent [acts] or possessed any weapons. Mr McIntyre remains upbeat after this hearing. I believe once all of the evidence is presented, Mr. McIntyre will be exonerated on all of the charges. We look forward to moving ahead.”

Following his most recent incarceration, his single “The Race” was released online and almost overnight became a viral hit. The single peaked at number 48 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this summer and could climb higher.

Lyrics Lil Pump – Gucci Gang

Gucci gang, Gucci gang, Gucci gang, Gucci gang,
Gucci gaaang, Gucci gaaang, Gucci gaaang (Gucci gaaang!)
Spend ten racks on a new chain
My b*tch love do cocaine, ouu
I f*ck a b*tch, I forgot her name
I can’t buy a b*tch no wedding ring
Rather go and buy Balmains
Gucci gaaang, Gucci gaaang, Gucci gaaang (Gucci gaaang!)
Gucci gaaang, Gucci gaaang, Gucci gaaang, Gucci gaaang, Gucci gaaang, Gucci gaaang, Gucci gaaang (Gucci gaaang!)
Spend ten racks on a new chain
My b*tch love do cocaine, ouu
I f*ck a b*tch, I forgot her name, yeah
I can’t buy a b*tch no wedding ring
Rather go and buy Balmains
Gucci gaaang, Gucci gaaang, Gucci gaaang.

My lean cost more than your rent, ouu
Your momma still live in a tent, yeah
Still slanging dope in the jets, huh
Me and my grandma take meds, ouu
None of this s**t be new to me
f*cking my teacher, call it tutory
Bought some red bottoms, cost hella Gs
f*ck your airline, f*ck your company
b*tch your breath smell like some cigarettes
I’d rather f*ck a b*tch from the projects
They kicked me out the plane off a percocet
Now Lil Pump fly a private jet
Everybody screaming “f*ck west jet!”
Lil Pump still sell that meth
Hunnid on my wrist sippin on Tech
f*ck a lil b*tch, make her pus*y wet.

Gucci gang, Gucci gang, Gucci gaaang, Gucci gaaang,
Gucci gaaang, Gucci gaaang, Gucci gaaang (Gucci gaaang!)
Spend ten racks on a new chain
My b*tch love do cocaine, ouu
I f*ck a b*tch, I forgot her name
I can’t buy a b*tch no wedding ring
Rather go and buy Balmains
Gucci gaaang, Gucci gaaang, Gucci gaaang (Gucci gaaang!)
Gucci gaaang, Gucci gaaang, Gucci gaaang, Gucci gaaang, Gucci gaaang, Gucci gaaang, Gucci gaaang (Gucci gaaang!)
Spend ten racks on a new chain
My b*tch love do cocaine, ouu
