Alkaline has overthrows Vybz Kartel for the top dancehall song spot this week.

Vybz Kartel’s “Mhm Hm” was the leading song in dancehall at least until this week when it was overthrown by Alkaline’s hot new single “Suave.” The rivalry between Kartel and Alkaline is showing no signs of slowing down and this can only means more hit songs for their respective fans. This week, the Vendetta leader seems to have the upper hand with two new singles bubbling on the dancehall airwaves.

Since it’s released a week ago, Suave clocked 1.2 million views on YouTube and around 3.5 million streams on Apple Music and Spotify. Coupled that with airplay on radio and in parties helped pushed the song to the top spot in the dancehall space in a week. Vybz Kartel’s new single “Kremlin” produced by Rvssian is also doing very well with around 850,000 views on YouTube. That song was also released the same day that Alkaline dropped “Suave” and is currently the second most listened to dancehall song over the past week.

There is currently an intense debate among dancehall fans on social media about which of the two songs is better. You can share your thoughts in the comments below.

Bob Marley‘s star on Hollywood Walk of Fame has been repaired.

The star for the famed reggae king was vandalized last month by someone who set out with ill intentions on their mind. Marley’s star was replayed by representatives of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. Walk of Fame spokesperson, Ana Martinez, confirmed on Twitter last week that the monument was fully replaced and even tweeted out a photo of the brand new star.

“Bob Marley Walk of Fame star looking better than ever,” she wrote. Last month, she reported that the star would cost around $3000 to be repaired and the Hollywood Historic Trust would foot the bill. “It will cost nearly $3,000 to repair Bob Marley’s star on the Walk of Fame after it was found vandalized this week,” she wrote on Twitter. An investigation was launched by cops but so far we are not aware of any arrest.

No it’s not Offset, Cardi B calls Vybz Kartel her favorite artist of all time.

Offset shouldn’t be jealous because he gets to sleep next to her. It’s no secret that Cardi B is a huge dancehall fan and Vybz Kartel represents the pinnacle of the genre so it’s no surprise either that he is her favorite artist. The “Bodak Yellow” rapper was in Jamaica last week to shoot a music video for a song with Rvssian and reggaeton artist Ozuna. There are already rumors of a collaboration with Vybz Kartel in the works and that was likely orchestrated by Rvssian.

Cardi B posted a screenshot of a post Vybz Kartel made on Instagram last month giving her a big shoutout. “I can cry @vybzkartel is my favorite artist of all time Me and my friends teenagehood was all about dancing to @vybzkartel #FreeVybz,” she wrote. Bardi also regularly post videos of herself vibing Vybz Kartel songs.

Cardi B is the biggest success story in hip hop this year thanks to her breakout hit single “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves).” The song peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart making her the second woman in history to top the chart with a solo record. The first female artist to achieve that success was Lauryn Hill in 1998. The former Love and Hip Hop New York star is currently working on her debut album.

Vybz Kartel continues to make his mark on dancehall six years after his incarceration. Over the last two months alone, he has released enough music to make two albums and almost all of his new singles have been hits in the dancehall space. Kartel is currently awaiting his appeal trial in February next year and he is also working on an upcoming project, due early next year.

Intro:
Everyone wanna ride around town with me
Making money ride around downtown with me
Everyone wanna ride around town with Peep

Hook 1:
I be in the backseat smoking on thraxx
Can I have some cash please? You don’t gotta ask
You don’t gotta ask me, she don’t gotta ask
Still yelling free Max B
Free Gucci
Fuck me in the backseat baby make it last
I remember last week came too fast
Lil Peep nasty scratches on the back
But I got racks and she loving on my tats
Making money back

Hook 2:
Everyone wanna ride around town with me
Making money ride around downtown with me
Everyone wanna ride around town with Peep

[Verse 1]
Every day I wake up next to an angel
More beautiful than words could say
They said it wouldn’t work but what did they know?
Cause years passed and we’re still here today

Never in my dreams did I think that this would happen to me

[Chorus]
As I stand here before my woman
I can’t fight back the tears in my eyes
Oh how could I be so lucky
I must’ve done something right
And I promise to love her for the rest of my life

[Verse 2]
Seems like yesterday when she first said hello
Funny how time flies by when you’re in love
It took us a lifetime to find each other
It was worth the wait cause I finally found the one

Never in my dreams did I think that this would happen to me

[Chorus]
As I stand here before my woman
I can’t fight back the tears in my eyes
Oh how could I be so lucky
I must’ve done something right
And I promise to love her for the rest of my life
