Bounty Killer is urging the Jamaican government to pay police officers a higher wage.
Killer has cemented his place in dancehall as one of the greatest of all time and when you go to one of his shows you can expect a full set of classics plus some heart to heart moments like his recent performance at 100 Live in Kingston on Wednesday night. The dancehall legend put on a show for his fans and also took timeout to sound off on a number of social and political topics including the ongoing fight between the police and the government over higher wages.
“Politician, unno cyaan make life hard and make it easier fi people do bad things, and den di crime rate escalate and leave it pan di police dem. Give the police dem di money,” Bounty Killer told the crowd. “Dem have police a do inna dis time when the crime rate so high nuh right. Andrew Holness, hold dis: ‘Give the police di money to fight the beast name crime.”
This is not the first time that Bounty Killer is sticking his neck out for the police force. Earlier this year, Bounty and Ninjaman met with Minister of National Security, Robert Montague, where the two dancehall legends gave motivational speeches to a group of police officers. Their efforts were well received, but of course Ninjaman is currently in prison for murder.
Popcaan has injected some new life into the annual festival Sound Di Alarm.
The show has been always geared towards roots reggae fans, but singer Iba Mahr says the Unruly deejay’s addition to the lineup this year has lifted the show to new heights. The event, held at Dinthill Sports Complex in Linstead, St Catherine, is sponsored by Tru Juice and proceeds are donated to the Linstead Hospital. The show originally started out as a small community party and has since been transformed into a full concert with some big-name acts on the lineup.
“Over the years, we have been seen as a reggae festival, but with artistes like Popcaan added, it shows that Sound Di Alarm is a complete music experience,” Iba Mahr said. “We look forward to giving back to Linstead Hospital every year with this event. Already, hundreds of thousands of dollars has been given to repair parts of the accident and emergency building, and with the continued support from the patrons, we can give even more cash to the hospital next year.”
Other artists on the lineup for Sound Di Alarm this Sunday includes Capleton, Bugle, Luciano, Iba Mahr, Turbulence, I Wayne, Freddie McGregor, Junior Reid, Sizzla, Warrior King, Coco Tea, and more.
The Mobay deejay signed a record deal with Kingston’s Time is Money Entertainment label this year and now he is getting ready to drop the first project on that deal. According to Kingston, Tommy Lee already recorded around half a dozen songs for the album as they prepare for a spring 2018 release date. The singer says the new project will be like a rebirth for the Gothic dancehall star.
“We don’t know if all the seven songs will make the final cut, but we’re working on it,” Sean Kingston said. “It’s just a rebirth; a new chapter of Tommy Lee that has all the dimensions; switching voice tones, mad song concepts, melodies, instruments. It’s a whole different vibe. The chemistry is crazy.”
Sean Kingston and Tommy Lee Sparta collaborated on two new singles this year so he will likely be on the dancehall spitter’s new album. The two drop their new song, “Crossover,” last month and its been getting plenty airplay since including clocking over a million views on YouTube. Tommy Lee is not the only artist in the camp who is currently working on a new album, Sean Kingston has his “Made In Jamaica” project coming out on February 3, 2018.
When Wayne dropped Dedication 6 on Christmas Day everyone was left wondering where is that Drake, but fret not he is still holding it down the fort. The two Young Money rappers collaborated on a remix for JAY-Z‘s 4:44 single, “Family Feud” and its fire. Weezy did hinted last weekend that there will be a second part of the mixtape. Drizzy debut the single on his Instagram page on Friday, just moments after Hov drop the full video for the original single on TIDAL.
The single is a bit of a freestyle with the two rap titans trading bars on two lengthy verses where they both showcase their lyrical prowess. In his verse, Drake gave Colin Kaepernick and his former foe Diddy a shout-out and surprisingly he took a jab at Lil Wayne’s ongoing legal battle with Cash Money Records. Drizzy also namedrops Donald Trump in his verse in a bold move from the Canadian rapper. “If I ever see Trump he better salute ni**as, Much as we do ni**a, For real,” he raps.
Lil Wayne once again proved why he is one of the greatest of all time in hip hop with a fire verse. “On my god, lightning striking twice in this place, Should we make a wish or should we make it right in this place?, All these mother f***ing beef, I need some rice on this plate, Talked to your wifey today, she feeling triflin’ she say,” Weezy raps.
Chance The Rapper name Lil Wayne as the Michael Jackson of rap music in a bold claim on Twitter. While some fans agrees with his assessment, there are others who say he is reaching with that claim. Nevertheless, Weezy is one of the greatest that ever take up a microphone and rap.
Offset has denied claims made by celebrity groupie that she is pregnant with his child.
Cardi B and Offset has been dealing with allegations of infidelity over the last few weeks and now at least one female has come forward with claims that the Migos rapper impregnate her. The problem for her is, now he is shooting back saying he doesn’t even know her much less to knock her up. Still she is adamant that he is the father of her unborn child.
“These past few months have been a complete mess, but I finally found enough strength to open up about what’s going on,” Powell wrote on Instagram along with posting a photo of a sonogram. “Yes I am expecting & yes she’s a GIRL my whole life is changing and right now it’s definitely for the better. I’m not sure what the future holds but I hope [Offset] & I work this out for the sake of Karma Lee Cephus.”
She also addressed her critics who accused her of faking pregnancies before by saying that this time its very real. For those of you who don’t know who Celina Powell is, she is a popular Instagram model who has in the past accused rappers like Chief Keef and Fetty Wap of being her baby daddy. Of course they all denied it and she never present them with a baby or a baby bump.
Nevertheless, the allegation comes at a bad time for Offset who is dealing with his own allegations of cheating on his fiance Cardi B. The Migos rapper also has two children from a previous relationship. Last month, he also admitted to being the father of a 7-year-old boy named Jordan after the boy’s mother, Justine Watson, filed a paternity suit against him. Is it possible for him to have a fourth child on the way.
