NotNice is speaking out on the killing of Vybz Kartel‘s protege Gaza Maxwell.

The former Gazanation deejay was stabbed to death last month at a studio in Springfield, St Thomas. Police officers are actively investigating the murder but have not yet made an arrest. Producer NotNice says Maxwell’s death is a big blow for him because he was someone he worked with closely in the past. “Me stress out because is somebody me used to work closely with from Gaza days, so fi hear this, and the way him dead, it messed up,” the beat maker said. “Gaza Maxwell didn’t deserve to die that way. He was a good youth.”

NotNice says that it was Vybz Kartel who lead him to work with Gaza Maxwell and the last song that they did together was “Miss You” which is a rest in piece song featured on the Eternal Riddim. After Kartel disbanded Portmore Empire in 2012, Gaza Maxwell then moved to St. Thomas to further pursue his music. “Mi nuh voice ‘fool fool’ artiste, and Kartel nah go recruit ‘fool fool’ artiste, either. And a really Kartel did bring him come as a part of the Empire,” NotNice added. “Kartel say him (Maxwell) did remind him a the Festival man, Eric Donaldson, and a so comes me get fi voice him.”

Vybz Kartel learned about Gaza Maxwell’s murder while in the hospital last month. Sources say the dancehall star is hurt by the news.

Danielle D.I. released two new singles, one of which she dedicated to her ailing mother and another addressing Ishawna.

The “Equal Rights” singer released a gritty diss track last month “Walking Dead” where she rips Danielle D.I. mother who is currently battling a life threatening illness. The song drew a lot of condemnation from some dancehall fans who thinks that she went a bit too far. Seems D.I. is moving past that with a new single “So Blessed” dedicated to her mother.

“Mama am so blessed mi have you / Want you fi know that, mi love you / Mama I’m so blessed mi have you / Love you with everything I do,” she sings. The dancehall diva released another single “Nothing On Me” where she takes a few shots at Ishawna. The song is not being promoted as a diss track, but you can expect a response from the “Equal Rights” deejay.

Dancehall diva Danielle D.I. is caught in a back-and-forth with her ex-boyfriend Ricardo Fuller.

D.I. has issued a response to her ex who released a statement last month calling her a liar for stating in an interview that he gave her a one million pound settlement when they parted ways. The former Stoke City striker said that he was never engaged or married to the dancehall star and therefore could not have given her a settlement.

According to Danielle D.I., he was abusive to her during their decade-long relationship, but she will keep details of their past private. “Our families, colleagues and close friends are witnesses,” she said. “They can have seen the fairytale highs as well as the traumatic and very abusive lows, during our involvement since my teens until about 2010. They know and understand our story.”

She added that a lot of what she said was misinterpreted, for instance when she said that she went into the relationship as the wife and came out as the wife it means that she was never a side chick. She never addressed the million pound settlement in her statement and that is one of the major points of contentions.

Ding Dong versus Busy Signal is the most unlikely beef in dancehall this year.

With Sting coming to an end last year, dancehall currently has no live platform for hard clash anymore, but that isn’t stopping artists from stirring up new feuds. Dancer turn deejay, Ding Dong, released a new single last week “Flare” where he took a surprising jab at Busy Signal leaving everyone to figure out what’s really going on between the two of them.

“Yo no see the Ravers crew flare / Mi diamonds a canary, every dogs wa mi roll with scary / Yo see me cloth and me car wash daily / A wah yo think man lame / Mi no Busy Signal no call Gary,” Ding Dong deejay. In one of his biggest singles to date “On More Night,” Buys Signal has a line that can easy be misinterpreted. “Hear me gimme one more night girl / A million more night cuz I can’t sleep without you,” Busy sings. That line can easily be confused with “Gary gimme one more night.”

Busy Signal drops a brand new track “Stay So” this week where he took shots at his haters. Some dancehall fans think that he is specifically taking shots at Ding Dong.

In case you never look back
I want you to know that you will love like mad
I hope you live long enough
To change your mind

[Chorus]
Where do you think you’re going?
I wanna go with you, can I come too?
Nobody knows you better
Nobody loves you quite like I do

[Verse 2]
In case you ever look twice
Over your shoulder, oh, I’m on your side
If you ever open your eyes
Even one more time

[Chorus]
Where do you think you’re going?
I wanna go with you, can I come too?
Nobody knows you better
Nobody loves you quite like I do

[Bridge]
I wish you the best
Oh, I hope you have it all
But if you should fall from grace
I’ll be waiting at the bottom for you

[Chorus]
Where do you think you’re going?
I wanna go with you, can I come too?
Nobody knows you better, oh, no
Nobody loves you quite like I do
I do love you
