President of the United States Joe Biden expressed outrage over the assassination of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Biden called him a friend and a great supporter of friendship between the peoples of Japan and the United States.
“I am stunned, outraged and deeply saddened by the news that my friend Abe Shinzo, the former Prime Minister of Japan, has been assassinated. He was a great supporter of friendship between our peoples. The United States stands with Japan at this mournful moment, — Biden wrote on Twitter.
The assassination attempt on Abe took place on the morning of July 8 around 11:30 (5:30 Moscow time). A politician was speaking in support of the Liberal Democratic Party in Nara when he was shot twice in the back by a man. Abe was hospitalized in a hospital in Kashihara City, Nara Prefecture, but the politician died.
