Citizens of Ukraine, the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics without issued permits for residence or work may be obliged to leave Russia after August 17, TASS was informed in press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
The reason for this— decisions to suspend the duration of the temporary stay of foreigners during the pandemic. At that time, the terms of stay of foreigners in Russia were suspended until restrictions on transport links with their home state were lifted. They must leave the country 90 days after the restrictions were lifted.
Restrictions were lifted on May 20 with respect to the DPR, LPR and Ukraine. This means that if they do not receive permits in time, they must leave the country in August.
At the same time, the Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed that citizens of Ukraine, the DPR and the LPR can apply for a temporary residence permit or a residence permit for an expired passport.
Russia has been conducting a special military operation in Ukraine since February 24. According to human rights commissioner Tatiana Moskalkova, as of June 6, there are 1.4 million refugees in Russia.
Refugees from Ukraine and from the republics of Donbass are accepted by a number of Russian regions, in particular the Rostov region. As Governor Vasily Golubev reported, this region has become a kind of hub: since the end of February, almost 1.3 million residents of the DPR and LPR have crossed its borders, TASS reports.
