Showers and squally winds have led to a sharp rise in water levels in the rivers of Australia. Several areas of Sydney and surrounding cities were flooded, about 3.5 thousand people were evacuated.
According to the Australian Meteorological Bureau, up to one and a half meters of rain fell in the vicinity of Sydney since July 3. NSW Prime Minister Dominic Perrotte said about 32,000 people have been ordered to evacuate due to flooding and rising rivers.
