Incumbent French President Emmanuel Macron widens his lead over his rival, National Rally candidate Marine Le Pen ahead of the second round of the presidential election.< /p>

According to the BVA sociological service, support for Macron increased by two percentage points. 54 percent are ready to vote for the incumbent head of state, 46 percent for Le Pen.
The previous poll, which was conducted on April 6-7, showed that 53 percent of the French are ready to support Macron in the second round, Le Pen – 47 percent.
Sociologists suggest that turnout in the second round will be 73 percent. At the same time, during the first round, 73.7 percent of the French came to the polls.
According to the results of the first round of the presidential elections, which took place on April 10, Macron won 27.84 percent of the vote, Le Pen – 23.15 percent .
The left-wing candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon came in third with 21.95 percent of the vote. At the same time, he urged his voters not to vote for Le Pen, but at the same time he did not support Macron.
According to political scientists, half of Mélenchon's voters intend to ignore the second round of voting. The votes of the remaining half will be divided between Macron and Le Pen.
