Combat robots, high-precision missiles, electronic warfare stations
A meeting on the purchase of weapons and equipment was held in the Russian military department. It was hosted by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. The question of the defense order, of course, was considered from the point of view of the ongoing special military operation in Ukraine.
The fact that an important military meeting was held under the leadership of Sergei Shoigu should probably reassure the President of Ukraine Zelensky, who in his next video message for some reason was interested: why is the Russian Minister of War not visible? What happened to him? It would be better if he, of course, thought about the 14,000 Ukrainian soldiers who died in a month.
The special military operation, which has been going on for a month, will most likely correct the plans for the purchase of weapons by the Russian department. It is enough to study the military summary, which is brought daily by the official representative of the department, General Igor Konashenkov, to understand what weapons are in demand.
For example, on March 25, Caliber high-precision sea-based cruise missiles destroyed a warehouse with ammunition and weapons near Zhytomyr. Dozens of such blows were dealt in four weeks. Effective weapon. Ships of the Black Sea Fleet and the Caspian Flotilla are equipped with Caliber-NK missiles.
There are also Caliber-PL, which are equipped with Project 636.3 submarines. Six such submarines are part of the Black Sea Fleet. The construction of a series of the same submarines for the Pacific Fleet is nearing completion.
It is clear that the “Caliber”, which first appeared during the operation in Syria, have confirmed their effectiveness. Suffice it to recall the attack on the training base of mercenary units at the Yavorovo training ground in the Lviv region. Then several dozens of foreign mercenaries died, and among foreigners the number of those wishing to go to Ukraine to fight sharply decreased.
It is clear that the spent stock of “Caliber” must be restored as soon as possible, so that, as they say, there would be no shortage at all enough.
In the same report for March 25, Onyx high-precision cruise missiles are mentioned. With their help, the fuel base in the Nikolaev region was destroyed. The fuel base was used by the southern grouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Now there will be nothing to refuel.
Onyx missiles are in service with the ships of the Navy. In addition, Bastion coastal missile systems are equipped with these missiles. The right weapon.
Almost every day, military reports report on the successes of our air defense. Anti-aircraft crews “grounded” almost all Ukrainian aviation, including unmanned aircraft. Of the 26 Bayraktar drones purchased in Turkey, 25 were destroyed.
According to experts, along with anti-aircraft systems, electronic warfare (EW) means are effective in combating drones. Electronic warfare stations also disrupt enemy control systems, and this is also very important.
What other weapons have shown their effectiveness in strikes against the military infrastructure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine? For example, an aviation missile system with a hypersonic missile “Dagger”. Its spectacular strike on an underground ammunition depot of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in western Ukraine must have had a sobering effect on the most cocky NATO members. The fact is that so far only Russia has hypersonic aircraft missiles. The West has not yet come up with a means to counter them. It is clear that the supply of “Daggers” would be good to increase as much as possible.
What did Shoigu say at a meeting at the Ministry of Defense? First, the state defense order, despite all Western sanctions, is being carried out successfully. Budget financing in 2022 exceeded the expenditures of the previous year by 15%. “Naturally, we need to look at what to pay special attention to when fulfilling the tasks of the state defense order,” Shoigu said.
He said that the defense order for the next year was practically formed.
Shoigu named weapons that will be acquired as a matter of priority: “Priorities are high-precision long-range weapons, aviation equipment, as well as maintaining the combat readiness of strategic nuclear forces.”
In addition, the minister stressed, “taking into account … special military operation … it is necessary to maintain the set pace for the supply of advanced weapons to the troops, including robotic systems, information support and electronic warfare, and, of course, as always, logistics.
Robotic systems or combat robots – a promising direction. Their main purpose is to reduce losses in manpower. Combat drones are capable of attacking enemy fortifications, clearing mines and even evacuating the wounded from the battlefield. Most likely, their purchases will also increase.
